Unity Web Series with Deepak Chopra - "Jesus and the Awakening to God-Consciousness"

Join best-selling author and renowned spiritual leader Deepak Chopra along with leading Unity minister Wendy Craig-Purcell for a bold upcoming six-part video Web series on “Jesus and the Awakening to God-Consciousness,” based on Chopra’s recent book “The Third Jesus: The Christ We Cannot Ignore.”

The Web series contends that Jesus was not trying to start a new religion, nor was he aiming his teachings at some people and not others. He was pointing the way for all of us to experience the awakening that he himself had experienced.
The Web series explores each phase in the journey to God-consciousness and how you can apply the wisdom of Jesus on your own path to enlightenment. We’re not trying to change anyone’s mind or beliefs. We’re just offering an alternative view.”
Chopra sees Jesus' teachings as universal, even though a particular religion – Christianity – was created around him.

The six week series, with Deepak Chopra begins next month on Wednesday, October 15th 2008 and continues for the following five Wednesdays! Tune in at www.unity.fm

Oct. 15: Who Is Jesus and Why Does It Matter?

Baba John sez...

Go see this movie! Another fine example of a Transformational film.

'The Last Mimzy' Four Stars

Based on the acclaimed science fiction short story by Lewis Padgett, The Last Mimzy tells the story of two children who discover a mysterious box that contains some strange devices they think are toys. As the children play with these 'toys,' they begin to display higher and higher intelligence levels. Their teacher tells their parents that they seem to have grown beyond genius.

Their parents, too, realize something extraordinary is happening. Emma, the younger of the two, tells her confused mother that one of the toys, a beat-up stuffed toy rabbit, is named Mimzy and that "she teaches me things."

As Emma's mom becomes increasingly concerned, a blackout shuts down the city and the government traces the source of the power surge to Emma's family's house. Things quickly spin wildly out of their control. The children are focused on these strange objects, Mimzy, and the important mission on which they seem to have been sent. When the little girl says that Mimzy contains a most serious message from the future, a scientific scan shows that Mimzy is part extremely high level electronic, and part organic! Everyone realizes that they are involved in something incredible but exactly what?

Teacher of Stillness - Eckhart Tolle

Baba John sez...

As a Teacher of Stillness, of Present-Moment Living, Eckhart's words, for me, always enliven within that which he speaks about. Baba John recommends keeping daily company with the words of the wise.

"In the egoic state, love gets confused with form, and so you think your love is in this form, in this other person. You don't realize that true love is the recognition of the formless in the other -- which is the recognition of yourself in the other.

You can recognize it in natural things more easily, so first approach the world of nature and relate to it as much as possible through stillness, through Presence. Then gradually bring it into your relationships with other people.

Let them be. Be still with other people, as you are with nature. Sense the field of attention that flows out toward them. Listen, and while you're listening sense yourself as the awareness, the Presence."

Ludwig van Beethoven

Baba John recommends...

"Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life." Ludwig van Beethoven

Ole' Ludwig was on the right track! Baba John's Third-Ear album of the day is:

Example

"The Crane Wife" by The Decembrists (Capitol/EMI) Four Stars.

A lovely example of Chamber Pop. Loosely based on a Japanese folk tale that concerns a crane, an arrow, a beautiful woman, and a whole lot of clandestine weaving.

Baba John sez...

With the current popular understanding that our thoughts create our realities, here is another perspective worthy of consideration:

"The most common misconception about liberation is that it is someting an individual can gain. But liberation is a loss -- the loss of the sense that there ever was a separate individual who could choose to do something to bring about liberation.

When it is seen that there is no separation, the sense of vulnerability and fear that attaches to the individual falls away and what is left is the wonder of life just happening.

When the sensation that I am in control of my life and must make it happen ends, then life is simply lived and relaxation takes place. There is a sense of ease and an end to grasping for what might be."
